Complex Trauma – EMDR – Multicultural & Intergenerational Healing – Mindfulness

Support & specialties

Something to know about my approach is

I believe healing begins when we stop asking, “What’s wrong with me?” and instead create space to understand what we’ve lived through, how it shaped us, and what we truly need now. Many of the people I work with are capable, responsible, and deeply caring individuals who have spent years holding everything together on their own. Therapy with me is not just about coping or getting through the day—it’s about building trust, understanding the roots of what you’re carrying, and gently creating space for real healing and change.

My clients describe me as

Warm, calm, and peaceful. Clients often share that they feel safe, seen, and genuinely heard in our work together. They describe me as empathetic, nonjudgmental, patient, and deeply attuned—someone who can sit with hard emotions while also offering thoughtful reflection, guidance, and encouragement when they’re ready to move forward.

Focus areas

  • High-achieving professionals and caregivers who feel exhausted, overwhelmed, numb or disconnected on the inside
  • Couples navigating life transitions such as career shifts, parenthood, role or relationship changes, grief, and trauma
  • Multicultural clients exploring identity, intergenerational patterns, and cultural expectations
  • Healing from unprocessed childhood trauma, relationship trauma, religious or faith-related wounds, guilt, shame, and anxiety
  • Individuals who may look “fine” externally but feel lost, alone, or emotionally stuck internally

Therapy approaches

My work is trauma-informed and integrative, meaning I tailor therapy and skills building to your needs rather than relying on a single method. I draw from EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness, grief counseling, Family Systems and Internal Family Systems–informed approaches. We focus on understanding how past experiences live in both the mind and body, building emotional regulation skills and strengthening self-compassion, to gently reprocess and heal from your past so you can feel more peace, love and freedom in your present and future.

About me

My name is Claira Dresher. I am a licensed associate counselor, an immigrant, a  mother to a human and 2 dogs, and a former executive leader who brings a calm, grounded presence into the therapy space.

I came to this work through many chapters of life—loss, trauma, grief, cultural transition, career shifts, and roles and responsibilities that required me to grow up early and be the strong one. I have learned along the way that what mattered most was genuine human connection and how understanding ourselves with compassion can lead to deep healing and a more peaceful way of living.

My work is shaped by both Western psychology and Eastern wisdom. I am a Christian who also finds meaning and helpful applications in the teachings of Buddhism and other wisdoms and traditions. I hold space for clients to explore faith, spirituality, culture, and identity in ways that feel respectful and authentic to them.

I specialize in working with high-achieving professionals, caregivers, and individuals from multicultural and AAPI backgrounds who appear strong on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or alone on the inside. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, honest, and paced to your needs. Before change happens, we build trust, understanding, and safety.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re used to handling everything on your own. You don’t have to do this alone. My role is to walk alongside you, help you understand what you’re carrying, and support you as you move toward greater clarity, self-compassion, and healing.
